For those of us who work with social media every day it is easy to forget that, when it comes to enterprise social media adoption, many companies are still on the learning curve. A new research report released by InformationWeek shows that the majority of enterprise users have deployed internal social networks, but are struggling to get employees to use them. 27% do not have any kind of external corporate presence on a social network, only one in four have a policy for responding to customer complaints on Facebook or Twitter, and one-fourth block employee access to the major external social networks. According to a recent report by the Pew Research Center, social networking is growing more rapidly in developing countries than in developed markets, where social network growth has already plateaued. The survey measured increases in the double-digits for social networking in emerging markets such as Russia, Indonesia and Mexico, and found that “people in lower income nations who have online access use social networking at rates that are as high, or higher, than those found in affluent countries.” Read →
A recent study from BzzAgent measures the results of social media marketing campaigns on brand advocacy over a year’s length of time, looking at how long product opinion and purchase intent are affected following each campaign. “Social marketing is great at getting advocates excited about a product so they’ll want to share their opinions and recommendations with many others,” the study asserts, but “how long does the love last?” Read →
