Kevin Winterfield

Kevin Winterfield is the Mind Blower and Social Business Manager for IBM’s Smarter Planet conversation and a member of the Digital Strategy and Development team at IBM’s corporate headquarters in Armonk, NY.  He is responsible for designing, developing and implementing digital media and social influencing models in support of IBM’s business goals.  His latest social media project, People for a Smarter Planet, is a new component in the activation model for the Smarter Planet  social ecosystem. P4SP, as it is affectionately called, allows a growing global constituency to experience and participate in what Smarter Planet really means.

Prior to joining the corporate team, Kevin worked as the social media lead in IBM Research, where he developed one of the first successful social eco-systems at IBM.  And before that, he was in charge of community development for IBM’s 40,000+ software developers located in labs around the world.  His long career at IBM spans the disciplines of software development, finance, marketing and communications.

He is also an avid cyclist, which led him to co-found the popular Low-Key Hillclimb Series in the San Francisco Bay Area which raises money for Cancer research.  He dabbles in film production, having produced nine independent films through his Nine@Night digital production company and helped start the internet movie and community site, IFILM.com, a precursor to YouTube.  He also tries to act. As of today, unsuccessfully, but that hasn’t stopped him. ) And his band, Merwin, which has a Leonard Cohenish sound, just released their first single “Waiting At The Gate” (now available on iTunes).
