New data from the Pew Internet Project finds that over one-third of American adults – 35% – own a smartphone. Smartphone ownership is highest among the well-off, the well-educated, the (relatively) young, and non-whites. Fifty-nine percent of adults in households earning $75,000 or more have smartphones, nearly half – 48% – of those with a college degree own smartphones, and 44% of blacks and Latinos are smartphone owners. New data from the Pew Internet & American Life Project shows that African Americans and Latinos online are significantly more likely than whites to use Twitter. In addition, 1 in 10 African-Americans online visit Twitter daily – double the rate of Latinos that do so, and almost 4x the rate of whites. Read →
