@AmyVernon: Microphilanthropy is working at scale via @DonorsChoose #rltm

@AmyVernon: .@DonorsChoose knows it will never be a top-10 website in terms of traffic. So be where the potential users are. #rltm

@AmyVernon: So @DonorsChoose uses Facebook’s API, to great efficacy. Once you donate, invited to share info about project on FB #rltm

@AmyVernon: Teachers give one-time permission to post news into their FB feed regarding their project on @DonorsChoose – VERY successful #rltm

@AmyVernon: That aspect drove $100M in donations. So successful because so lo-tech & simple and getting msg to the teachers’ friends/family  #rltm

@AmyVernon: If you have permission to post in a users’ feed, don’t include a call to action all the time. Be “nutritious & tasteful” @DonorsChoose #rltm

@AmyVernon: When asking for permission – esp asking to post to someone’s feed – be REALLY up-front about what you’re going to do w/that permission #rltm

@OurManinSH: Watch that engagment doesnt screw up your friendships/contacts by oversharing a donor request via @donorschoose #RLTM #IWNY

@AmyVernon: So cool – all participants here got $25 gift cards to spend on @DonorsChoose #rltm

DonorsChoose.org was #RLTM NY’s non-profit partner, and provided $25 giving cards for attendees to support classroom projects of their choice.  We encourage you to learn more about DonorsChoose.org, help them spread the word and consider supporting a classroom or teacher.  Please visit them at http://www.donorschoose.org/.
