Can Twitter Save the Newspaper?

We’re posting more detailed descriptions of the various TWTRCON DC program sessions as we finalize them with our speakers.  Pls feel free to comment & help us shape the direction of the agenda even further, or start thinking about questions you might ask (in person, or via Twitter)!

Can Twitter Save the Newspaper?

Anyone with a cell phone camera and a Twitter account now has the ability to break news. Is real-time citizen journalism the final nail in the coffin for the traditional media business?  Or is Twitter’s ability to engage readers and drive traffic an opportunity for the news industry to re-invent itself?

At TWTRCON DC 09, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from a top Wall Street Journal editor who’s a prolific user of Twitter to interact with readers and distribute the news gathered by his colleagues at the Journal.  Alan Murray, Deputy Managing Editor and Executive Editor, Online has editorial responsibility for the Journal’s web sites, including WSJ.com, as well as its books, conferences and television operations.

Hear his thoughts on the role of Twitter and other real-time networks in disseminating the news at TWTRCON DC 09 on Thursday October 22 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC.
