Twitpic and Instagram Growing Fast in the EU5
Over 143 million mobile users took a photo using their mobile device in March 2012, according to new comScore data for the EU5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK). While this is only a 2% increase over the last three months, two mobile photo-sharing services are experiencing rapid expansion.
Twitpic had the strongest mobile growth rate (133%) during the three month average ending March 2012, rising to 1.5 million mobile users. Instagram’s mobile audience grew 27%, to a total of 466,000 mobile users. Flickr saw only 7% growth, but has a significantly larger mobile audience than the other two services, with 2.3 million mobile users.
The comScore data also looked a mobile users’ access of Instagram and Facebook in the EU5. While nearly all (95.8%) of Instagram’s audience also accessed Facebook via their mobile devices, only 0.7 percent of Facebook’s audience also accessed Instagram.
