42% of Those Who Downloaded Foursquare App Use It Actively
Foursquare had 10.4 million users in July 2012 (on Android/iPhone), up from from 5-6 million per month from March through June. Nielsen’s “Social Media Report 2012” report revealed that 42% of the 25 million people who have downloaded the Foursquare app are using it at least once per month.
Nielsen ranked Foursquare behind only Facebook (78 million) and Twitter (23 million) in terms of July mobile app users, according to AdWeek. Foursquare usage in July was up 118% year-over-year.
Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley spoke to AdWeek last month about retailers’ perception of Foursquare’s user numbers: “I wouldn’t say scale is an issue. But people always want to reach more folks than they are currently reaching. That’s true of any platform. It’s like, “Hey, it’d be easier to advertise in this one newspaper if everyone in the world reads this one newspaper.”
What do you think – are these numbers good for Foursquare?
