Yesterday Instagram announced a new milestone: 150 million users. Fully one-third of that number (50 million) joined in just the last six months. And many new users are international: the company revealed that 60% of Instagram users are now from outside the United States.
From the Instagram blog:
“Whether it’s documenting protests in Egypt, sharing the trip of a lifetime across the United States or snapping #petselfiez, this community continues to surprise us every day with your creativity, sense of adventure and unique perspectives on the world.”
In addition, The Wall Street Journal revealed that Instagram should be ready to begin selling ads within the next year, according to Instagram’s director of business operations Emily White. The big challenge? “How to integrate marketing without jeopardizing Instagram’s cool factor,” reports the Journal.
