- Facebook redesigns its ad buying and reporting tools to help businesses meet ‘objectives’ – Facebook’s ad buying and reporting tools will now be “objective-based;” marketers will choose from 8 objectives and now have the option to select the placement of their ads (The Next Web)
- Facebook expands API program to help international broadcasters display user content in TV shows – Facebook introduced its API beta program last month; it has now expanded internationally, with the UK’s Sky as one of the first customers (The Next Web)
- Facebook rolls out Page Insights with simpler metrics, better publishing tools, and engagement stats to all Pages – a new version of Page Insights has been rolled out to all Page owners; administrators will now have more information about the users that visit their pages (The Next Web)
- Twitter tweaks its welcome screen to better explain itself – Twitter changed the visual design and welcome text on its homepage, to emphasize 1) mobile and 2) what newcomers to Twitter should expect (AllThingsD)
- Twitter for Windows Phone gets notifications for favorite accounts, dark theme, tweets on home screen, and more – Twitter released a new version of its Windows Phone app with a slew of changes, including direct message syncing, the ability to pin keyword searches and highlight interesting tweets, and more (The Next Web)
- Comcast hopes to promote TV Shows in Twitter deal – using a new feature called ‘See It,’ Twitter posts published by Comcast owned channels (including NBC) about a TV show can lead customers directly to that show (The New York Times)
- Tablet-optimized Twitter Android app now available, limited at first to Samsung devices – Twitter released a new version of its mobile app designed specifically for the larger screens of Android tablets; it currently works for Samsung’s Galaxy Note but will expand to other Samsung and Android tablets by the end of the year (AllThingsD)
- Here’s what a Pinterest ad looks like – Pinterest started actually placing Promoted Pins onto the platform last week; the ads appear alongside regular user pins with “exceedingly fine print” identifying them as ads (AllThingsD)
- Pinterest acquires coding challenge site Hackermeter right out of the gate, will shut it down – 2-month old startup Hackermeter was acquired by Pinterest last week, most likely as a talent acquisition (TechCrunch)

- Foursquare rolls out new recommendation service to some iPhone users – Foursquare starting rolling out its new automatic recommendation service for iPhone users, starting with just a “few thousand”; a similar rollout will begin for Android users starting in August (AllThingsD)
