- Facebook Paper update allows sharing via messages, text messages, email – Facebook updated the Paper app for iPhone; now users can share messages via Facebook, text and email (AllFacebook)
- One year late, Facebook rolls out scaled-back News Feed redesign – last week Facebook rolled out long-awaited design changes to the News Feed, after a significant amount of user feedback; photos will be more prominent in users’ streams, among other changes (re/code)
- Facebook’s Instagram said to sign Omnicom ad deal – Instagram rolled out advertising just 5 months ago, and now has signed its first ad deal (allegedly valued at $50 million) with Omnicom; brands that work with Omnicom will now be able to show promotional videos and pictures to Instagram users (Bloomberg)
- Twitter bans porn videos on Vine – last week Twitter officially banned pornographic content on Vine (CNN)
- Twitter pays $36 million to avoid IBM patent suit – back in January, Twitter paid IBM $36 million for 900 patents in order to avoid a lawsuit; the price was just revealed last week (Wired)
- Pinterest’s first transparency report shows few government data requests – Pinterest received only 12 requests for data from the U.S. government in the second half of 2013 (re/code)
- Still in the red, Reddit to donate one-tenth of ad revenue to charity – Reddit announced plans to donate 1/10th of advertising revenue to charity in 2014; the funds will be distributed evenly among the top 10 charities nominated by the Reddit community (re/code)
