Ways To Incorporate Friday Fun Into Your Business Environment
More and more employers are thinking of exciting and innovative ways in which to inject some fun and excitement into their workplace. Keeping employees happy at work can often be achieved by introducing fun activities, such as games and competitions which they can play while they’re at work in order to make the working day more enjoyable and help employees to become more motivated, engaged and satisfied at work.
Employee satisfaction is absolutely crucial to the success of a business, with employees who are highly satisfied at work and enjoying their positions are much more likely to provide a business with excellent results and be far more productive than employees who are dissatisfied at work. But, finding new ideas and innovative strategies when it comes to fun in the workplace can be more difficult than many realize. That’s why we’ve put together some of the best ideas for injecting ‘Friday Fun’ into your workplace environment:
Playing Games
Devising interesting and fun games for your colleagues to play can seriously help to break up their working day and make being at work more interesting in general. Games such as bingo tend to be a huge hit in the workplace, as this can be played by anyone and there’s also the chance to win some fun prizes.
When it comes to giving prizes away to the winners of any games that you use for your employees, you don’t always have to spend loads of money or give away cash. Sometimes small and even cheap prizes can be just as exciting to try and win. Game play also encourages a more positive, competitive and motivated attitude throughout your workforce, especially if you incorporate this fun into productivity levels. For example, you could hold a competition which allows employees who have hit certain targets to have a ‘games hour’ on a Friday rather than working.
Competitions
As mentioned earlier, competitions are a fun way of cheering up your workforce and creating some friendly competition and rivalry. The competitions that you hold could be completely unrelated to the workplace, or you could incorporate them into the working day. For example, if you manage a sales team, you could hold a competition where the person who gets the most sales for the day, week or month wins a small prize. This could be a small bonus on their commission, an extra hour for lunch, the chance to finish work early on a Friday, or even a full day off. Or, you could even give out physical prizes to your employees. For example technology items, vouchers, or even food.
Dressing Down
Dress down Fridays are one of the easiest ways to make the end of the week a little bit more enjoyable and bearable for your employees. After a long working week, many people come to work feeling a little bit tired and looking forward to the weekend on a Friday, so allowing them to turn up in comfortable clothes, rather than business attire, can be a great way to encourage more employee satisfaction and let your them know that their hard work is appreciated.
Of course, this idea is only applicable to certain organizations and workplaces. For example, if you run a customer service team who meet with customers daily, they might not be able to turn up in regular clothing.
Weekly Rewards
One of the best ways to encourage employee satisfaction and make sure that your workforce is motivated and engaged with their work as a whole is to reward individual workers for a great standard of work and productivity. Each week, holding a rewards event, such as a rewards lunch, for special employees who have gone above and beyond the line of duty that week or simply worked hard enough for others to really notice is a great way to ensure that workers feel appreciated. Holding a rewards event in your workplace doesn’t have to be costly either. Certificates can be obtained cheaply and often the recognition alone is enough to give your employees a boost.
Staff Days Out
Although it may not be possible to organize a day out or meetup for your employees every single Friday, it can definitely be a great thing to do infrequently to give your workforce something fun to look forward to. If you can afford to allow your employees to finish early on a Friday every so often, arranging for trips out to events, theme parks, company meals, or even nights out can be a fun idea. Even if you can’t allow an early finish, many employees will be happy to attend a fun event with their friends from work on a weekend.
