The Newest Features Available in Business Laptops
Keith Stoddard

With people working from home more than ever before, having a good laptop is crucial for any business. There are many new features in laptops which can improve the functionality and efficiency of any workspace.

One new feature that has been gaining in popularity is biometric systems for improved security.  The most common examples of this are fingerprint readers and facial recognition. These features were made known through their use on cell phones. This added security can be crucial for workers who may have confidential information on their laptops or prefer to work in public.

Another popular feature is the use of touchscreens and foldable laptops. This transition comes in response to the increased use of tablets in business. These new laptops are a hybrid between computer and tablet. This hybrid combines the keyboard and trackpad of a conventional laptop with the touchscreen and writing capabilities of a tablet. More and more workers are switching to touch screens with stylus pens to take notes in a way that is similar to writing with a pen and paper. This feature also works for workers who need to draw graphs or do some graphic design. These new hybrids add a lot of new features that workers cannot get with conventional laptops and are worth checking out for any business.

One part of any laptop choice is the amount of storage that it contains. With files becoming larger and more complicated, the amount of storage needed to hold it all is increasing. The storage capacity of hard drives has been growing for quite some time, and many laptops now contain over one terabyte worth of storage capability. Another newer alternative to hard drives is solid-state storage systems. These systems use flash memory rather than a disc drive to store and access data. While these systems often have lower storage capacities, they can save and load data much faster. These solid-state systems are satisfactory for increasing processing power for workers who find speed and efficiency a priority.

One final thing to keep in mind is the software that comes with a laptop. One of the most commonly used programs in business is Microsoft Office, but there are different versions of this package. Workers can invest in more expensive options depending on their needs. Another common type of software that comes with laptops is virus protection programs. These programs aim to keep laptops safe and away from viruses. Many laptops come with free trials or subscriptions to these services so workers can see what works best for them.

In addition to all of these new features, the main components of laptops are often being updated. Laptops are updated with the latest technology to increase things such as processing power, battery life, loading speed, and many other aspects. It is recommended by some to upgrade your laptop every few years to ensure that they can run as efficiently as possible.

In the end, it depends on the needs of the worker and the business. Many of these features will not matter to some and be crucial to others. Workers are encouraged to think about what they will need to complete their job and pick the device that will help them finish it efficiently.
