Google+ Adding 625,000 Daily, Now At 62 Million Users
According to an estimate by “unofficial Google+ statistician” Paul Allen, Google+ is now up to 62 million users and is adding new users at a rate of 625,000 per day. This impressive signup rate is part of an acceleration that Allen has noticed over the last several weeks.
Allen cites holidays, TV commercials, Android 4 signups, celebrity/brand appeal and positive word of mouth as reasons behind the recent rise in Google+ growth.
Paul Allen’s team tracks the growth of Google’s social network, and according to his data nearly one-quarter (24%) of Google+ users will have joined in December 2011. At the current growth rate, Google+ will have 293 million users by the end of 2012. However, Allen predicts that growth rates will continue to rise, and that Google+ will have reached a user base of 400 million before 2012 is over.
Google’s last official announcement, by CEO Larry Page in October, said Google+ had 40 million users.
Will 2012 really be the “breakout” year for Google+? And what percentage of these users are actually active on the site?
