We are really excited about the next TWTRCON event being in DC, and so grateful to everyone in the DC Twitter community who has already reached out to get involved!
Will TWTRCON DC be about Twitter in government? Yes, in the sense that micro-blogging and real-time search are changing the way government works–just as they are changing the way other organizations work. There are a lot of very interesting case studies about how Twitter is being used by government agencies to increase transparency, collaboration and responsiveness, just as companies are finding that Twitter creates opportunities to re-think how they communicate, collaborate and provide customer service. In fact, we think some of the most interesting sessions at TWTRCON DC may be ones that will combine panelists from government agencies and from brands, since there is much that we can learn about Twitter in business from both.
Our goal in recruiting the speakers for TWTRCON DC is similar to the one we had for the SF event: find people who are actually using Twitter in business, at government agencies and at non-profits, and ask them to share their experiences, talk about the results they’ve achieved, the best practices they’ve discovered and the lessons they’ve learned. In addition to the panel discussions and keynotes, we are planning to add some case-study sessions to allow some of our speakers to deliver in-depth, how-they-did it stories about their Twitter strategies and campaigns.
We love Twitter and will be using it extensively to communicate about the event, so please follow us at @TWTRCON and #TWTRCON. We also use it to listen, so please let us know what questions we can answer, and share your ideas or suggestions at any time.
See you in DC!
