Royal Pingdom has calculated that Twitter’s activity–as measured by the number of tweets–has increased by 33% in the last 3 months. Twitter processed a total of 2.64 billion tweets in the month of August, which comes to an average of 85 million every day.
Year to date, the increase is even more impressive: activity on Twitter has already more than doubled, with 115% more tweets in August than in January.
The estimates include all tweets, including tweets sent via twitter.com and via third-party apps.
For information about Royal Pingdom’s methodology, see the note at the bottom of this post.
Note that the above chart shows the total activity on Twitter, both Twitter.com and tweets sent via Twitter’s API, i.e. from all Twitter apps.
Last year was a breakout year for the service, and that trend seems to continue.
