Facebook has updated its official company Statistics page, and Inside Facebook has posted an analysis of how the changes compare to the June and February updates.
The changes indicate that the level of activity and engagement of Facebook users continues to grow:
- The total amount of time spent by users on Facebook is up from 500 million minutes in late June to 700 million minutes in October
- There are now around 900 million “objects” (pages, groups, events and community pages) that Facebook users interact with, up from 160 million in June
- The average user is now connected to “80 community pages, groups and events,” up from 60 of these “objects” in June
- In October, users shared 30 billion “pieces of content,” which Facebook describes as “web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photo albums, etc,” up from 25 billion pieces of content being shared each month as of June
Some additional interesting stats show international and mobile activity:
- 70% of Facebook users are outside the US
- There are more than 150 million active users currently accessing Facebook through their mobile devices
- People that use Facebook on their mobile devices are twice as active on Facebook than non-mobile users
Stats that have not changed since the previous update:
- Facebook reached 500 million monthly active users in late August
- More than have of active users log on in a given day
- The average user has 130 friends
