According to a report in min, Microsoft says it now has printed 2 billion Tags (their proprietary mobile bar code technology, like QR codes but different) in various magazines, with 1 billion of those coming in just the last four months. The Microsoft tag has appeared in over 100 million magazine issues. The August issue of Allure magazine has the record for the largest single 2D code campaign response to date, with 450,000 activations for its annual Free Stuff Giveaway program in that issue. According to a forthcoming survey from video and rich media marketing company Nellymoser, 80% of the magazines using 2D mobile codes are deploying the Microsoft product.
