GranataPet, a German dog food brand, has created an innovative marketing campaign harnessing billboards and the popularity of Foursquare checkins. Consumers check in via Foursquare, and voilá, the billboard dispenses GranataPet dog food at doggie-height for the consumer’s hungry pooch.
Watch the video below for a live demonstration of their “Check in! Snack Out!” campaign, with billboards placed along potential dog-walking routes. Mashable reports that the checkins are noted on a distant server, which connects to a black box in the billboard controlling the dispenser.
The campaign incorporates traditional (billboard) advertising with social media and geolocation, plus it makes for a happy dog. Will interactive billboard strategies continue to gain popularity?
