Facebook’s 714 million users create an irresistible target for advertisers large and small. According to eMarketer, Facebook will be taking a 17.7% share of the US online ad revenue market this year, and will more than double global ad revenue to $4.05 billion this year. eMarketer analyst Debra Aho Williamson told Bloomberg that about 60% of Facebook’s advertising revenue comes from self-serve ads.
Some additional stats from the Bloomberg story:
- The average cost per click for self-serve ads dropped to 95 cents from $1.36 in June, according to Hussein Fazal, CEO of AdParlor Inc., a Toronto-based promotion-placement company.
- Internet advertising company IgnitionOne Inc. said U.S. spending by repeat Facebook clients surged 22% in the second quarter.
- Game developer Casual Collective Inc., CEO Will Harbin says he spends more than $1 million a month of Facebook and credits those promotions with a more than 10-fold increase in customers.
