CBS Fall TV Season is Big on Social Media

The CBS Fall TV season begins this week, and social media is playing a big part in this year’s launch.  There will be two weeks of social media events, including online chats with producers, Twitter hashtags for each show, and Tweet Week with actors and producers available to answer fans’ questions via social media.

CBS Fall TV Season Launches With Social Media CampaignThe Fall TV social media campaign focuses around two main elements, the online Fall Premiere Show and the return of CBS’s Tweet Week, according to the CBS Television Studios blog.

The Fall Premiere Show, an online intro to the fall schedule, premiered last night on CBS.com, and after the previews fans can participate in live online chats with show producers.  Then, fans can log in using Facebook and Twitter every night this week to join realtime chats with the show’s producers, during the re-runs of each show’s season finale from last year.  Each show has its own hashtag, listed on Mashable.

CBS is bringing back Tweet Week, another social media promotion that allows fans to interact with actors and producers during the season premiere of several CBS shows – including Hawaii Five-o, Survivor, Criminal Minds, and more – via Twitter or on CBS’s Tweet Week page.  These chats can be accessed by following the hashtag #CBSTweetWeek or following the Twitter accounts of the show’s actors and producers.

CBS is not the only network to experiment heavily with social TV – will this be the season it really takes off?
