Nike is at the forefront of brand creativity on mobile photo-sharing platform Instagram. The brand’s new NikeiD campaign allows Instagram users to design, share and even purchase customized versions of Nike sneakers, reports ClickZ.
Here’s how it works:
- Instagram users go to Nike’s PHOTOiD site, and select an Instagram shot as the background for the Nike Air Max model of their choice
- users click a button, and Nike customizes the shoe color to match the colors in the photo
- users can share the shot over Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and an online gallery with other Instagram/Nike customized photos
- participants can also purchase the customized shoes
Nike has over 1.3 million followers on Instagram, and the brand’s bio features a link to the PHOTOiD site. The campaign engages users with Instagram’s platform in a fun, original way — and provides a custom product for purchase. Regardless of whether fans choose to simply share their photos, or go all the way and buy the customized sneakers, Nike scores a win with this campaign.
