At 8pm this Thursday night, the fashion world is taking Google+ Hangouts on Air to a whole new level. The CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) has partnered with Google to incorporate e-commerce in specific Hangouts, allowing participants to chat with fashion designers (in realtime) while shopping their products — at the same time, in the same app.
The first of these Hangouts debuts tonight, with Diane von Furstenberg. Participants can chat with the designer live, and shop her fashion line simultaneously. The Hangout will appear normally within the app, with a “handy interactive sidebar” that will feature the e-commerce component.
CFDA Hangouts to follow (also with the e-commerce component) will include Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone, Rebecca Minkoff, and Rachel Zoe, reports Fashionista. Watch a video demonstration here:
